The Golden Belt Mine is located a few hundred feet north of the Golden Turkey Mine. It was discovered by George Zika in 1873. It later reopened in 1931 and was owned by the Golden Belt Mines, Inc. The mine stopped production in 1961. The tabular vein was assayed at about $5-$40 of gold per ton.
Golden Belt Mill and Golden Turkey Mine I hiked through the brush to find Golden Belt Mill and everything around it destroyed, which is unfortunate. There were large tools and mining pieces scattered throughout the property, possibly from vandals or scrappers. Anything that resembled buildings were burned or stripped away.
The Golden Belt mine (64), held by the Golden Belt Mines, Inc., is a few hundred feet north of the Golden Turkey. Its original location is reported to have been made in 1873 by George Zika. Production prior to 1916, according to the local press, amounted to several hundred tons of ore of which part was shipped and part was milled.
Mine Description The Golden Turkey mine, held by H. C. Mitchell and associates, is on the west side of Turkey Creek, near the eastern foot of the Bradshaw Mountains, at an elevation of about 3,000 feet. Via the Black Canyon Highway, the property is about 15 miles from Mayer, the nearest railway shipping point.
The mines are located on the south-eastern edge of the Bradshaw Mountains. Near the towns of Mayer and Spring Valley. 60 acres total covering all of the workings of the Golden Turkey and Gold Belt Mines which are interconnected underground. The property was remediated in 2010 as well as can be ascertained and the main portal is gated.

While recent news about the Northern Manitoba mining industry has mostly focused on ontraction and closures in Thompson and Flin Flon, Hudbay Minerals Inc. announced Feb. 19 that it expects gold production from its Lalor mine near Snow Lake to more than double by 2022 after it reopens the New Britannia mill, which will allow it to recover greater quantities of the precious metal from the ore.

4-7-2020 The Çöpler open-pit gold mine in Turkey is being expanded to introduce pressure oxidation method to produce gold from the refractory sulphide ore. The mine currently uses heap-leach operation to produce gold from the oxide ore. Definitive feasibility study for the expansion project was completed in June 2014 and updated March 2015.
